Matsukaze Tenma’s prologue story.
Tenma (3rd grade) loves soccer because he had his life saved by a soccer ball when he was little (also implied by a certain person). So he trains by himself every day, hoping to get into the junior soccer team “Inazuma KFC”. When the day of their recruitment try-outs came, he entered and was unable to do well at first, but showed great speed and skill at dribbling. Then, when he was about to shoot, he sees a girl being treatened by a mean dog on the top of the hills. The girl and Tenma have met before during one of his training sessions, she showed no digust at his old and dirty soccer ball or mocked him for playing soccer all alone. Tenma redirected the ball and made a shoot between her and the dog, scaring the dog away. He failed the test as the time was up and he didn’t make the shoot, but the coach of Inazuma KFC (Mako, 14 years old) remarked that he was like the wind when he dribbled. Meanwhile, Kudou watches the whole scene from a distance.
Later on Tenma tells the girl (Sorano Aoi) how he came to like soccer and how much he admired the Raimon captain and the Inazuma Japan team, saying he would enter Raimon Middle School and join the soccer club there. They part ways and the girl said to herself that she had come to like soccer as well, possibly because Tenma had saved her.
