The fact that people are offering their support and their words like this should be something inspiring and uplifting! I don’t know how many times I have felt terrible and a few kind words helped me get through sadness and/or pain.
You are doing just as bad with your judging statements as the people who make it bad for you. Although these people haven’t gone through the same pain as you or the same discrimination, I am sure as FUCK they have gone through some sort of pain in their life.

i just feel like it’s a lot easier for them to say??? i mean obviously i want people to be supportive and helpful, and any campaign that encourages people to be themselves is good, but… idk i just have problems with the it gets better campaign, mostly because the guy who started it is pretty much a big jerk (transphobic, among other things).
i don’t know, it just rubs me the wrong way because i’e gotten the whole BUT I’M SUCH A GREAT ALLY IT GETS BETTER I DESERVE COOKIES FOR SUPPORTING YOU AND YOU CAN’T BE TREATED -THAT- BADLY treatment. :/ idk. i know everyone has faced troubles in their life but i just don’t find mostly-straight celebs telling me they don’t hate me for who i am to be particularly inspiring.

Saying nice and supportive things is great, but it doesn’t actually do anything to help anyone, and words of encouragement like these fall so fucking flat when you realize it’s coming from a group of (largely straight, entirely white, all relatively wealthy) people who have much more opportunity to escape their hardships than most.
Not everyone’s mind changes, not everyone gets up and out, IT DOESN’T ALWAYS JUST GET BETTER. And this stupid campaign doesn’t actually do anything to help anyone. You don’t deserve a fucking cookie for not treating other human beings like shit.
