“All faggots must die” comment traced to homophobic Georgia Senator’s office

A homophobic comment left on Joe My God’s blog post was traced to an office building in Atlanta, Georgia shared by Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Sen. Johnny Isakson. After receiving much publicity, the office confirmed that it was indeed the source of the comment.

Both senators are against repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

The comment, “All faggots must die” was posted under the name “Jimmy” in response to a post by Joe My God, a blog that covers gay and lesbian issues.

Joe My God posted the IP address of the commentor showing that its Internet Service Providor was labled as “United States Senate.”

Isakson’s spokesperson told CNN that the IP address does not match any of their computers. She said in a statement:

“We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged. Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps.”

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Saxby’s office has confirmed that it is “it was indeed the source of a highly publicized homosexual-bashing slur.”

They have not found the exact person behind the comment, but they said that they have turned the matter over to the Senate Sergeant At Arms.
